Final State Environmental Impact Report.
Welcome to the web site for the State Road 514 (Malabar Road) Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study. The PD&E Study limits are from east of SR 507 (Babcock Street) to US 1, a distance of approximately 3.64 miles. The study will evaluate the feasibility of widening SR 514 (Malabar Road) from a two lane roadway to a four lane divided urban roadway and will include evaluation of improvements such as bicycle lanes and sidewalks. SR 514 (Malabar Road) is an east-west urban minor arterial that connects US 1 to Interstate 95 in Brevard County. The project limits are identified on the project location map.
The study team presented the recommended Build alternative and the No-Build alternative at a public hearing held on February 28, 2018. Public and Town of Malabar raised concerns with the recommended alternative proposed between Weber Road and Marie Street with respect to the alignment and type of improvements. In response, the study team is performing additional analysis and working with local stakeholders to determine the most appropriate roadway improvements for Malabar Road between Weber Road and Marie Street. The analyses have included revised alignments and revised roadway cross-sections. The study team has briefed the Town of Malabar Council and will continue to address input from the public and local agencies.
